Who I am

I am Timothy Cavinder, and I am running for a seat on the LaPorte County Council representing District Two. I am a direct descendent of a county pioneer family and I still live upon land that was settled by my family in 1827. I believe these deep-seated roots provide a unique perspective when approaching issues that affect county residents. Having earned a master’s degree in Information Technology I currently teach at Valparaiso University. Married for over 20 years. I reside in a rural setting with my wife and two children along with an assortment of ducks, chickens, cats, and a turtle. I appreciate your consideration.

Eyes on Every Dollar

I am running for County Council to bring disciplined, transparent, and responsible leadership to every dollar LaPorte County spends.

1.Transparency: Residents deserve to know where their money goes and why decisions are made.

2.Accountability: County government should operate with the same discipline as the families who fund it.

3.Responsibility: Every dollar should serve a public purpose.

4.Fairness: Budgets should reflect community priorities.
